“Serving at Broad Street Ministry Center has deepened my faith. Walking alongside people, praying with them, and seeing lives change reminds me every week why the church is called to love our neighbors.” — BSMC Volunteer

The Director of Broad Street Ministry Center is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and many years of experience in mental health care. He is a student of theology, commissioned missionary, ordained minister, and is completing a Biblical Counseling program, bringing both clinical knowledge and faith-based guidance to the ministry. He and his wife began volunteering with Broad Street Ministry Center in 2013, serving alongside their eight children, and he has now led the ministry as Director for seven years. His leadership combines professional experience, spiritual insight, and a heart for holistic care—spiritually, emotionally, and practically—helping the ministry serve the community with love and dignity.

Serving Broad Street Ministry Center since 2020, she began as a volunteer and now supports the ministry in a part-time administrative role. She helps the office run smoothly by answering phones, assisting with reports, supporting event setup, and receiving donations, while also providing support across multiple areas of ministry. She earned a degree in Graphic Design while working here, contributing her creativity to several projects that have benefited the ministry. Her reliability, kindness, and cheerful presence make her an essential part of the team, helping staff, volunteers, and visitors feel welcomed and supported. Her service reflects her love for the Lord and her dedication to the mission of the ministry.

The Outreach & Vision role is led by the Director’s wife, who has faithfully served as an unpaid staff member and volunteer since 2013. She has served alongside her husband and their eight children, demonstrating a family commitment to ministry and community service. She holds a degree in Social Work and is a former EMT, with experience serving in social work roles across several countries. A student of theology and a participant in a Biblical Counseling program, she is also pursuing a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling. Conversational in Spanish, she helps connect with diverse community members. Her work in outreach is rooted in compassion, cultural understanding, and a desire to walk alongside individuals and families with faith and care.

He was born in Uvalde, Texas and raised by his mother behind their family grocery store, where early life was shaped by service, faith, and work ethic. After graduating from Nueces Canyon High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (ACS) from Baylor University, followed by a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and postdoctoral fellowship training at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He served nearly thirty years as a professor and researcher at the Medical College of Georgia (now Augusta University), where his work included three books, numerous scientific presentations, and many published articles. Throughout his academic career, he was known for thoughtful leadership, mentorship, and a passion for teaching. A lifelong churchgoer, he surrendered his life to Christ and has since lived out his faith through decades of mission work and compassionate outreach. His ministry service includes leadership in disaster relief with the Augusta Association of Baptist Churches and Samaritan’s Purse, feeding teams with Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief, involvement in Operation Christmas Child, and ongoing ministry with Kairos Prison Ministry. He has served on the Board of Broad Street Ministry Center and, in a time of transition, stepped in with his wife to help lead and operate the center for over six months following the passing of the previous director, helping train the current director and ensuring continuity of ministry and care. He brings to BSMC a heart for serving those in need, a commitment to honoring Christ through action, and faithful volunteer leadership.

His service is motivated by love for the Lord and a desire to support the ministry’s mission in practical, meaningful ways.

The Coordinator of Clothing began serving Broad Street Ministry Center in 2020, coming to the ministry seeking a place to donate items and volunteer. She quickly took the lead on the clothing floor as an unpaid staff member, overseeing a team of volunteers and ensuring that every item is organized and accessible. Thanks to her dedication and leadership, the clothing floor is a welcoming, well-run space that blesses every family who walks through the doors. Fluent in French, she also helps connect with members of the community across language barriers. Her service is motivated by love for the Lord, and she faithfully uses her gifts to support the ministry and serve others.

The Coordinator of our Homeless Ministry and Women’s & Children’s Essentials Ministry has served Broad Street Ministry Center for 14 years, beginning as a volunteer at just six years old.
