Ways to Help
Below are a few areas in which volunteers are currently needed. If you are gifted/interested in a particular
area, please call the BSMC office
at 706-722-5999 or complete our
online volunteer form.
Grantwriting, Fundraising & Marketing:
Volunteers are needed to help write grants, speak at churches and organizations about our ministry center or help coordinate fundraising efforts.
Someone with a truck
... to pick up (usually on Tuesday morning at 9:00) occasional food orders (pallet loaded) from Golden Harvest Food Bank on Gordon Highway and then deliver to the center.
... to pick up bread on Thursdays or Saturdays around 10:00 am
Administrative/Clerical Volunteers
... are needed to make copies, assemble new client folders, mail letters, data entry, make phone calls, etc. Help is needed any time Monday-Friday between 9am and 5pm.
... also need a volunteer to decorate bulletin boards.
Teaching:
Individuals are needed to lead Bible study on Monday evenings at 6pm. This can be a one night study or multiple Mondays study during the summer months.
Spiritual Care:
Volunteers are needed to pray with clients or provide spiritual counsel/encouragement on Tuesdays (10-2), Thursdays (10-2) and Fridays (9-5).
Electrical Needs:
Need someone to purchase and install a light fixture or motion sensor on the exterior food pantry loading zone wall.
Building Maintenance:
BSMC has needs from painting a room to cleaning carpet to pressure washing. Please call our office for an updated list of building needs.
Adult Literacy Tutors:
Need several adult volunteers to train and then teach another
adult to read and write. Next classes will be August 7, 9 and 10 from 9 am til 2 pm.
